The incident came just a day after two people were killed and another was wounded in a shooting at Maitland Station. Western Cape police reported a confrontation between the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) and the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA) taxi operators at the Maitland taxi rank in Cape Town. Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala said Public Order Police were deployed to maintain public safety and restore stability.
