The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) carried ~12,000 passengers during October 1–21, earning ₹1.41 crore in revenue. To meet tourist demand, the UNESCO World Heritage railway introduced special joyrides between Darjeeling–Ghum and two Kurseong–Mahanadi round trips — one steam-hauled, one diesel — offering visitors a scenic heritage experience.
