A woman and her 18-year-old son died of electrocution at Varnabettu in Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday morning, October 22. The deceased were identified as Mercy Mascarenhas and her son, Shawn Mascarenhas. It is suspected that their clothesline came into contact with a live electric wire. When Mercy rushed to rescue her son after hearing him scream, she was also electrocuted.
