The government has extended the duty-free import deadline for 1 million tonnes of raw sugar under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) to December 31, 2026, from the earlier October 31 deadline, to boost festive season supplies. Only 2.6 lakh tonnes have been imported so far due to lack of price parity with international markets.
