Storm Austen smashed into Britain today with 80mph gusts and heavy rain as schools closed and thousands of homes lost power while trains and flights were cancelled. The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for much of Scotland from 6am on Friday until 3am on Saturday. People are being urged to prepare ahead of potential disruption when Storm Austen brings gusts of up to 70mph and heavy rain from Friday.
