Sugar stocks fall up to 6% as govt stops sugar-based ethanol production. Sugar stocks fell up to 6% on Monday after the government directed oil marketing companies to stop using sugarcane juice, sugar syrup and B-heavy molasses for ethanol production in the 2026/27 supply year. Balrampur Chini Mills, EID Parry and other sugar companies declined 2-6% in morning trade. The move could reduce profit margins and returns on ethanol-capacity investments.
