Murder convict seeks to contest 2027 UP polls from BJP, Allahabad HC stays his sentence. The Allahabad High Court has suspended the conviction and life sentence of a man convicted in a murder case after he expressed his desire to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He wanted to contest the election as an independent candidate or from the BJP. The court also granted him bail while his appeal against the conviction remains pending.
