Orangutan rescued in Maharashtra returns to Indonesia. A 3-year-old male orangutan, rescued from a tiny cage in a Dombivli bathroom in Thane district, returned to Jakarta on October 19, 2026. Seized by Thane Forest Division amid an international smuggling operation, it was housed in Nagpur's zoo, then transferred to Vantara before being repatriated to Indonesia for quarantine and rehabilitation.
