At least 1,200 people were arrested and over 150 police officers were hurt in France after protests against rising living costs and declining public services spiralled out of control on Saturday. According to the interior ministry, around 5,50,000 people had participated in the demonstrations across the country. Notably, France is witnessing its worst riots in years.
