BS-VII emission norms to roll out for new cars, SUVs from 2029. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is planning to introduce stricter BS-VII emission standards for new cars and SUVs from April 1, 2029. The new norms will be implemented in three phases over six years, from April 2029 to April 2035. India currently follows BS-VI standards, introduced in April 2020, after skipping BS-V to accelerate pollution control.
