Assam's Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary opens for 2026-27 season. Assam Environment Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah reopened Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on October 13 for the 2026–27 tourism season, introducing new Gypsy vehicles to meet rising demand. Elephant safaris begin in November. Pobitora holds India's highest rhino density at 16 per sq km. Manas and Kaziranga were also recently reopened, completing the region's three key wildlife tourism destinations.
