NPCI defers UPI MDR rollout to post-Diwali. NPCI has deferred the planned Oct. 15 rollout of MDR on select UPI transactions to after Diwali. A flat Rs 5 MDR applies on transactions above Rs 2,000 in categories like railways, telecom, insurance, and fuel. Large merchant payments above Rs 2,000 attract 0.4%, capped at Rs 300. Over 95% of P2M transactions remain MDR-free.
