Born in Gujarat, Raval had attended the same school as former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel before moving to New Zealand. He made his first-class debut in 2008, followed by international debut in Test against Pakistan in 2016. The 38-year-old amassed 1,143 runs in 24 Tests from 2016 to 2020.
