Delta bird’s shifting habits offer clues about ecosystem changes. The shifting breeding locations of the rare Slaty Egret in Botswana's Okavango Delta are drawing attention from researchers, reports stated. According to UNEP, only about 3,000 birds remain in the region. Recent surveys in 2025 and 2026 revealed that some established nesting sites vanished due to fires and elephants, while new colonies emerged elsewhere, reports added.
