West Bengal might be renamed 'Paschim Banga'; BJP-led govt to bring Bill. The BJP-led West Bengal government will table a Bill in the Assembly to rename the state as 'Paschim Banga', BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya said. He attributed the decision to the state's history and its Bengali identity. The TMC government made attempts to rename the state in 2011 and 2016-18, but the Centre didn't approve the proposals.
