Jeffrey Archer was a Conservative MP; he faced bankruptcy & spent time in prison. British novelist Jeffrey Archer died on October 5, aged 86. Archer became Conservative MP at 29 and served as the party’s deputy chairman under Margaret Thatcher. After bankruptcy, he resigned from Parliament and began writing to repay creditors, producing his debut novel, ‘Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less’. He was sentenced to four years in prison in 2001.
