Karnataka Prisons DIG M Somashekar has been arrested over the alleged release of life convict Shankar A from Bengaluru Central Prison using a forged Supreme Court order in 2018. Police said the order was allegedly forged by prison official Srikanth S, while Somashekar, then chief superintendent, allegedly assisted the release. Somashekar has been remanded to police custody until October 9.
