Guwahati Diwali markets saw strong demand for banana plants and bamboo sticks, with traders selling stocks brought from Kamrup, Nalbari and Morigaon. Guwahati: By the time the lamps were lit on Sunday evening, the pavements of Guwahati had largely emptied of the banana plants and bamboo sticks that crowded them through the day. Traders who set up stalls for the festival saw steady custom from the morning onwards.
