Journalists present at Ramlila Maidan say the INDIA bloc rally was successful by normal political standards, drawing an estimated 60,000 to 1 lakh people. However, the turnout fell well short of the 10 lakh figure projected by Congress leader K.C. Venugopal. Observers say the combined march-and-rally format, waterlogged patches and inflated expectations created optics that made the crowd appear smaller than it was.
