Maharashtra FDA collected samples of gold-plated sweets priced at ₹24,000 per kg from an Amravati shop to verify whether the coating contains genuine gold. Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said the samples were sent for laboratory testing and action would follow if the plating proved impure or fake. He urged consumers to question costly sweets advertised with precious metal coatings.
