Japan Football Association honorary president Kozo Tashima has announced his bid to challenge Gianni Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election in March. Tashima becomes the second declared challenger after former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega. However, candidates must secure nominations from at least five of FIFA's 211 member associations to qualify for the ballot ahead of the November 18 deadline.
