Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency after record-breaking floods devastated communities in North Georgia and neighbouring Tennessee. More than 80 people were rescued as floodwaters submerged homes, businesses and roads in McCaysville and Copperhill. The Toccoa-Ocoee River surged nearly 16 feet in just 12 hours, reaching a record crest of around 18 feet. Residents now face another massive cleanup, just three months after previous flooding damaged the region.
