FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has said those arranging large events expecting heavy footfalls where food is served through a caterer should inform FDA about it as a measure of precaution. His statement comes days after 70 guests at a wedding in Bhandup fell ill and at least 34, including the newlywed couple and four children, were hospitalised due to food poisoning.
