Railway thefts in Bhopal division rose 7.2% between May and July 2026, with GRP registering 1,660 cases against 1,548 last year. Stolen cash and valuables totalled ₹5.08 crore, up from ₹4.15 crore. Despite arrests and special drives, criminals continue targeting sleeping passengers. Abduction cases also increased from four to ten.
