IIT-BHU climbs 18 spots to 219th in QS Asia University Rankings 2027; ranks 38th in QS Southern Asia 2026, gaining in research and reputation. Some of India's leading institutions, including IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru, have seen their positions decline. India is Asia’s second most represented higher education system with 325 universities, including 34 new entrants. However, 71 per cent of Indian universities recorded a decline in rankings.
