In a pathbreaking recalibration of the Agnipath recruitment scheme, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a second two-year engagement for Agniveers not selected for regular service after their init. Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani has announced a two-year extension in the engagement period for Agniveers, who would otherwise exit service after completing their initial. Earlier, 75% Agniveers were to be released and 25% were to be absorbed.
