In a major setback to US President Donald Trump, Democrats scored a major midterm election victory in the state of Texas. 37-year-old James Talarico flipped a Senate seat, defeating Republican Ken Paxton to pull off the party's first statewide victory in more than 30 years. Texas voters also rejected Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who was seeking a fourth term, in favor of Gina Hinojosa, who will be the state's first Latina governor.
