The Court suspected BMC officers of colluding with encroachers and collecting ‘hafta’ from them. The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a contempt notice to the Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for prima facie wilful disobedience of its time-bound directions issued on November 13, 2025 and July 28, 2026 for removal of encroachments from land earmarked for a BEST bus stand in Borivali, Mumbai.
