For nine years, Bindubai has carried her disabled husband on her back while seeking government assistance. A video of her arriving at the Burhanpur collectorate with her husband, Dayashankar, went viral, bringing their plight to the attention of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Dayashankar suffered paralysis nine years ago and later had one leg amputated. Bindubai had been seeking a tricycle and disability pension for him.
