Transport Minister Kerry Vincent says the growth in patronage has been "fantastic" and the government is considering whether public transport can stay free indefinitely. Fare-free travel was introduced on March 30 and will continue until July 1 for Metro services, as well as private bus operators Kinetic and Tassielink, and the publicly run Derwent Ferry.. The temporary free public transport initiative in Tasmania will be extended for an additional 12 months.
