A potential downstream flood emergency is putting vulnerable areas along the India-Bhutan border on alert. The Sankosh river basin, which carries water from Bhutan into Assam and North Bengal before joining the Brahmaputra, is being closely monitored. District administrations are alerting residents in low-lying and riverbank areas, while disaster response teams remain on standby. Kokrajhar, Chirang and parts of North Bengal are among the areas of concern.
