Extremely heavy rain of over 200 mm was recorded at 15 places in Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday. The downpour, triggered by the remnants of cyclone Arnab, which made landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, poured record quantities of 546 mm at Patrapur and 503 mm at Sorada in Ganjam district.
