The death of a woman whose throat was slit by manjha while riding through the city recently has prompted the police and the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) to launch an intensified crackdown on the sale and use of the dangerous kite-flying thread. Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao warned that criminal cases will be filed against anyone flying kites with manjha, as well as sellers of the abrasive string.
