Observing that the government ‘wants to have complete grip over the institution’, Chief Justice Surya Kant warned that executive control is impinging on tribunal autonomy as resolution delays worsen. The observations were made while hearing a petition filed by contractual employees working in the NCLT and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.
