Gujarat High Court has quashed conviction of a Pocso accused and ordered a fresh trial in the case in which a 14-year-old victim had committed suicide by self-immolation. The order said the court cannot and must not be guided by popular clamor or media narratives. Yet, public scrutiny places extra duty of care upon bench to ensure every shred of evidence.
