A fatal Mercedes crash in Kochi has sparked a controversy over privilege, accountability and alleged preferential treatment. A 17-year-old boy, the son of an Additional District Judge, allegedly drove his father's car into a scooter, killing 55-year-old street vendor Jayabalakrishnan. The teenager was initially granted station bail, prompting protests by the victim's family. Police have since added a culpable homicide charge and booked the judge under the Motor Vehicles Act.
