Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar has urged the BMC to halt construction and demolition across Mumbai for one day every week to tackle air pollution ahead of winter. In a letter to Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, he sought a city-specific pollution response plan, road washing, stricter vehicle emission checks and anti-smog measures at hotspots across the city.
