The approvals cover artillery guns, helicopters, drones, air defence systems and surveillance equipment for the Army, Navy and Air Force. The clearances are not final purchase contracts. The Defence Acquisition Council has approved defence procurement proposals worth ₹2.12 lakh crore, with around 82% of the proposed purchases expected to come from Indian companies.
