Almost 1km of the popular shopping destination is pedestrianised between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. Lord Sadiq Khan says the changes are the first phase in lifting Oxford Street out of "decline". Oxford Street's traffic restrictions are now in force, but the broader transformation is still under way. Planned additions such as trees, seating and public squares are expected in 2027.
