A Sultanpur MP-MLA court acquitted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case over his 2018 remarks against then BJP president Amit Shah. BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed the complaint in August 2018. Gandhi was present when the verdict was pronounced. The complaint was filed in the same year by local BJP leader Vijay Mishra over remarks Rahul Gandhi made at a Bengaluru rally ahead of the Karnataka Assembly.
