Serbia’s student-led movement has dealt a major blow to President Aleksandar Vucic’s political dominance, winning a parliamentary election after nearly two years of protests demanding accountability and an end to corruption. The movement gained momentum after a railway station roof collapsed in Novi Sad in November 2024, killing 16 people. Its campaign called for greater accountability and an end to political control of the public broadcaster.
