Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot upon receiving information and launched a firefighting operation. However, the blaze was so intense that it spread rapidly, burning shops within minutes. A massive fire broke out at Jammu's Shiv Market, opposite the railway station, in the early hours of Monday, gutting an estimated 35-40 shops. A short circuit is suspected, while officials assess.
